Triangle Town Center September Outreach

A friend Ryan and I went to the mall and first met a young man. He was a teenager who had thought about God and his relationship to God. But he had no idea where he would go if he were to die. So I took him through God's law and showed him if he were to die that he would be punished for all his sins against this holy God. And the young man said that he did not want to commit to Christ in fear that he would sin again. That he could not be good enough once he became a follower of Christ. I explained to him that is exactly why he needs Christ because no one is good enough. I told him our best deeds are like filthy rags compared to a holy God's perfection. Now my friends lets go back to what he said, he was concerned that he would not be able to be good enough once he came to know Christ. Do you hear what he is saying? This young man's idea of salvation is being based on works and what he can do. Human pride is so filthy and horrible that is why God says he opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble. This teenager and his pride wanted to believe in Christ and felt that the only way he could remain there was through being good. It takes a breaking of a person realizing there is no good in us. It is a humbling thing to understand that. It was something he has not yet grasped.

We also talked with a young couple that said they were Christians because they have prayed a prayer to receive Christ. Yet they could explain nothing of salvation and what it truly means to be saved. As I took this couple through the law and showed them their lives compared to God's standard the young lady said, "I have never had anyone explain it this way and I have been going to church a long time. " How many are there out there that are like her that have sat in the pew Sunday after Sunday and listened to a man centered gospel? Please be clear when you share the gospel of Jesus Christ. People's souls depend on it. Your Brother in Christ~Tommy
